Engish, the lingua franca of the world, is no more

- the languagb of the Sritish, it has become the

the language of two tribes Angles and Saxons from

transferred not only to the other parts of the United

England from450 A. D. to 1050 A.D. Middle English which

was spoken between 1050 A.D. to 1500 A.D. Moden

Engish was developed after 1500 A.D. which is still

changing and developing. After the end of reign of

Queen Elabeth I in 1603 and the later years reign of

Queen Elizabeth li at the start of twenty first century the

number of speakers of English increased from a mere

five to seven millian to two bilions. During sixteenth

century English was spoken by a smali group of people

born and bred within the shores of the British isles, it is

now spoken almost every country of the world, with its

majority speakers being those for whom it is not a first
